With 20 years of healthcare experience, Kate is committed to unraveling complex business issues and producing sustainable change for organizations that seek to improve people’s lives.
Mission-Driven Approach:
Over the course of her career Kate has guided healthcare systems – connecting teams and breaking down silos – through changes that have helped them implement new patient service offerings, optimize financial operations, and institute streamlined, standardized processes. She is driven by a desire to ensure that communities have access to excellent, affordable medical care. “I believe that healthcare is a fundamental human right, yet our system is riddled with complexity and inequity. My goal is to do what I can to change this – nudging our system into focusing on improving population health, bettering the patient experience, reducing healthcare costs, alleviating clinical burnout, and advancing health equity. It’s a puzzle of policy and procedure, but I have always gravitated toward opportunities to simplify the complicated.”
Career Highlights:
Most recently Kate served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for North Shore Community Health Center, where she led the organization’s value-based care transformation and reshaped its structure and staffing model to deliver more timely, personalized patient care. She also spent time at Mass General Brigham providing coaching and support to a host of primary care practices as they drove toward achieving NCQA patient-centered medical home (PCMH) accreditation and recognition. Guided by curiosity and a talent for building consensus, Kate has built a career enriched by her ability to create inclusive spaces where leaders and cross-functional teams feel comfortable collaborating and innovating toward meaningful growth, operational excellence, and superior service solutions.
Education:
Kate is a catalyst, helping organizations define their vision and purpose while adopting Lean processes and sustaining transformative change. These skills are supported by her foundational education – an M.B.A. with a concentration in Healthcare Policy and Management from Brandeis University’s Heller School, a B.A. from Stonehill College, and continuous professional development including a certificate in Social Impact Management and Leadership through the Institute for Nonprofit Practice and Tufts University’s Tisch College of Civic Life. She has shared her expertise in the corporate space and through industry enrichment events such as the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers’ Community Health Institute where she has been a featured speaker sharing lessons learned from her value-based care achievements.
Personal Interests and Community Engagement:
A near lifelong resident of Massachusetts, Kate has dedicated time to community volunteer efforts including serving as Vestry (Board) Vice President of the Church of St. Andrew and helping establish the SPUR Community Roots Garden in Marblehead. Kate and her family also enjoy activities that bring them together, like gardening, cooking, and traveling.
